Originating from the Eastern side of the world, the Kappa is a child-sized river demon known for causing tricks and harming humans. They are very humanoid in nature, but sport green scaly skin, a carapace shell on their backs, and webbed hands and feet. The most notable feature of a Kappa, however, is the indent that they have on their heads that resemble built-in bowls. This depression in their skull is usually filled with river water, the main source of their strength. Many individuals who have seen a Kappa have called it numerous terms...the most common one being "ugly".

While the Kappa are usually only causing minor inconveniences like pulling pranks, their actions can go as far as drowning individuals in rivers and eating the flesh of vulnerable children. The most common way to avoid feeling the wrath of a Kappa is to offer cucumbers to them, since those are their favorite food. Some towns and villages offer cucumbers yearly in order to gain the favor of Kappas, whom will provide top notch irrigation as a result.

If one is in a battle against a Kappa or two, it is important to remember that all Kappa have a built-in weakness atop their heads. Getting the water inside the Kappa's indented bowl head to spill or tip out completely will render them weak and completely harmless. Some Kappas who lose the water inside their head would give up while others simply die on the spot.
