Dwarves, and the dwarvish people. For Little People see Dwarfs.

  • Torture is outlawed
  • Wood is valuable to dwarves not near surface forests
  • Dwarves loves the stone, deep ground, rock overhead. They are prideful and respectful, and kinship among family and among friends is just as important as allegiance to their ruler.
  • A dwarf's name is not commonly assumed to be an important thing. They don't offer it up unless asked, in which case they name their family first and often lineage, as well as any historical relatives of note.
  • In a dwarvish mining crew, any number of miners, movers, breakers, and beasts may be used. No crew of miners is the same.
  • A crew of miners is the most important social group the dwarvish people observe. They may last a day, but share a bond as strong as family.
  • The workers swinging a pick-axe are not like those in other groups, who may be slaves or the lowest of the caste. In a mining crew, those who swing the pick work closest with all-important ore, and they are those who command the most respect. The foreman is always one among those swinging the pick, and the others including overseers in large operations are below the foreman.
