Dragon Hoard Dragon (Bestiary)

These massive dragons are typically gold, sometimes with jewels set into their scales or even, rarely, they are covered entirely in gems of one color or a rainbow of many. This comes from the dragon's love of treasure. They will gather riches of all kinds, anything of value, and gather it into their hoard. Then, a covetous dragon will even consume this treasure so that no one else may ever have it. Consuming large amounts of treasure over time changes them into these brilliant colors. It is said that a hoard dragon's scale may be up to 50% solid gold.

Hoard dragons will live a very long time, no one truly knows how long. The legends tell of dragons which are believed to have been identified over 10,000 years, but the lives of scholars are so short that these records are hard to corroborate. Hiding in their dens with their hoards of treasure, a dragon may never leave for months, years, or even centuries before stealing themselves away to fly and eat and plunder.

Cave Dragons

Cave dragons are in fact Hoard Dragon females. Slightly less-concerned with treasure, the female rarely consumes riches and therefore appear in more typical colors of Black, Brown, Blue, Green, Red, and Yellow. Once they find a caver which is suitable, they defend it fiercely and all who know of a cave dragon's location would best stay clear. They will hold their spot until the geology of the earth alters and the spot no longer exists. The are also ravenously hungry, and will often raid lands both near and far.
